Happy Thanksgiving!

May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have never a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!

When I found this recipe, I thought it was perfect for people like me, who just are not sure how to tell when poultry is thoroughly cooked, but not dried out.

Give this a try.

8 - 15 lb. turkey
1 cup melted butter
1 cup stuffing (Pepperidge Farm is Good.)
1 cup uncooked popcorn
(ORVILLE REDENBACHER’S LOW FAT) Salt/pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush turkey well with melted butter salt, and pepper. Fill cavity with stuffing and uncooked popcorn.

Place in baking pan with the neck end toward the back of the oven.

Listen for the popping sounds. When the turkey’s ass blows the oven door open and the bird flies across the room, it’s done.

Transportation

In response to a prompt HERE

My primary mode of transportation is a 1989 Chrysler New Yorker. Now, I have been told that this was a “Luxury” car back in the day. What is so luxurious about driving around in 60 degree weather with no heat and windows that won’t stay up? How about the horn that started honking while I was driving home yesterday? The one that wouldn’t stop until I literally ripped the front off of my steering wheel.

It takes a long time to learn......

1. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night. - Now I do not know this from experience, but it sounds like a great plan to me.
2. If you had to identify, in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved and never will achieve its full potential, that word would be “meetings.” - This is the complete truth! You should come sit in on one of our business meetings and see how much gets accomplished.
3. There is a very fine line between “hobby” and “mental illness.” - Hmmm, do they have scrapbookers anonymous?
4. People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with them. 5. You should not confuse your career with your life. - Been there, done that. Now I have a job that ends at 5 PM
6. Nobody cares if you can’t dance well. Just get up and dance. - Well, if you read my “about me” you know that I am not ever going to do it.
7. Never lick a steak knife. - DUH
8. The most destructive force in the universe is gossip. - Which is why I am not friends with many women.
9. You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and compelling reason why we observe daylight savings time. - I am still searching.
10. You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests that you think she’s pregnant unless you can see an actual baby emerging from her at that moment. - Just as bad as asking a woman her age.
11. There comes a time when you should stop expecting other people to make a big deal about your birthday. That time is age eleven.- Though it would be fun to have a surprise party. A girl can only dream.
12. The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above average drivers. - My driving record will prove that I am of course an above-average driver.

Pet Peeves

  • People that leave ashtray’s full of cigarette butts.

  • Open cabinet doors - The doors are there for a reason. Why would you leave them open?

  • Slow Drivers Drivers that don’t do the speed limit.

  • People that tailgate - I always drive over the speed limit. Stay off my arse.

  • Showing up at my house without calling first.

  • Interupting me when I am talking - I usually don’t have much to say, so when I do talk, please listen)

  • Dirty dishes that haven’t been rinsed off - Just plain nasty.

  • Ice crunching - This is my nails on a chalkboard.

  • Talking with food in your mouth - Again this is just plain nasty.

Did you know?

It is impossible to lick your elbow.

I found something cool!

I always wondered what it would be like to grow up in the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s. I am still wondering what it would be like, but at least now I know what I would look like then. Which one is your favorite?

Right now you should be doing ______ instead of being on the computer.

Since it is only 2 PM, I should definitely be working. There are objects to convert, orders to process, and spreadsheets to fill.

It is not enough to have a good mind. The main thing is to use it well.
Rene Descartes (1596 - 1650), ‘Le Discours de la Methode,’ 1637

My Dirty Little Secret……….. I have to admit that I am a little embarrassed to say this. I love New Kids On The Block! I was totally head over heels for them back in the 90’s, but then most young girls were. When I heard that they were getting back together, I thought that it was actually quite funny that a bunch of “men” were going to be singing teeny bopper music. Then, when I heard their music I realized that they have gone main stream. They sound just like any other pop group on the radio. The good thing is that they are even sexier now than they were when I was 12.

Weather Time Machine

Found this neat little tool on another blog (Thanks Lelly)

It was 40 degrees when I was born.(28 years ago…..) Is this why I hate the cold so much?

It was 80 degrees when Andrew was born (1995) & 64 degrees when Amber was born (2005) - Same hospital, same room.

OK I was going to quit, but I thought of one more important date in my life….My wedding. Middle of July in Florida - 93 degrees & the air conditioning sucked!

"The average American looks at 8 houses before buying one"

I guess we are not average. Keith and I have literally looked at hundreds of houses before finding the one that we are going to purchase. We looked at everything from mobile homes on land to new construction in a gated community. We even found a Pyramid House (which was really cool).

This house really would have been neat to live in, but it needed too much work and they didn’t want to give us a loan for a “fixer upper”. Stinks! How many people can actually say that they live in a pyramid? Well, not me.

Hee Hee

Hee Hee

I am thankful......

For the husband who is on the sofa being a couch potato, because he is home with me and not out at the bars.

For the teenager who is complaining about doing dishes because it means he is at home, not on the streets.

For the taxes I pay because it means I am employed.

For the mess to clean after a party because it means I have been surrounded by friends.

For the clothes that fit a little too snug because it means I have enough to eat.

For my shadow that watches me work because it means I am out in the sunshine.

For a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning and gutters that need cleaning because it means I have a home.

For all the complaining I hear about the government because it means we have freedom of speech.

For the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking lot because it means I am capable of walking and I have been blessed with transportation.

For my huge heating bill because it means I am warm.

For the pile of laundry and ironing because it means I have clothes to wear.

For weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day because it means I have been capable of working hard.

For the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours because it means I am alive.

And I am thankful for the crazy people I work with because they make work interesting and fun!

“The main problem with teenagers is that they're just like their parents were at their age”

My baby boy is no longer a baby and that scares me. I know that he has to grow up sometime, but it seems as if the years have gone by so quickly. He no longer runs to the door when I get home from work telling me how much he missed me. Instead, he runs out the door to go to his friends house. (who just happens to be a GIRL) Soon it will be cars, the prom, dating, & the Army. I don’t even want to begin to think of those yet. No matter what happens, he will always be my baby.
